Ramsgate Tales is an ongoing oral and pictorial history of some of the residents of Ramsgate in the 21st century. In May 2025, Sarah Simpson-Enock began interviewing and transcribing their words and Fiona Murray began taking their portraits. Thanks to the Ramsgate Society, in March 2026 Ramsgate Tales was able to accept a grant from the Ramsgate Bring it to Life fund. This provided an opportunity to showcase the work done already and to finance a website.
The call for participants as worded on the website is as follows:
If you are a life-long resident, a relative newcomer or just someone with close ties to the town and would like to share your story, we would love to hear from you. We are interested in all lives and all corners of the town: its trades, its families, its memories and its characters.
The goal is to curate 200 interviews and portraits of Ramsgate residents by the year 2030 in an archive that will eventually be housed by the Ramsgate Society as a community resource.
