On 26th February the Ramsgate Society, Margate Civic Society and Broadstairs Town Council met with TDC to start planning the Thanet Heritage Open Days 2026. (11th- 20th September). This is the largest national heritage event in England lead by The National Trust – click here for more information about Heritage Open Days

The Ramsgate Society led on this project in Thanet for a number of years but recently Thanet District Council, The Ramsgate Society, Margate Civic Society and Broadstairs Town Council have joined forces to work together as a team to coordinate the event districtwide. The team first got together in 2025 and the event was very successful and we are planning to repeat this success in 2026 and beyond.

For the last 2 years the Ramsgate entries were coordinated by our committee member Susanne Ford, but Susanne stepped down from the committee at the end of 2025 and her place as HODs coordinator has been taken by Elizabeth Seward, a new member of the Ramsgate Society with a strong interest in heritage in Ramsgate and the wider Thanet area.
